Air Transat and ALPA: agreement in principle ratified
Air Transat and ALPA, the union representing its flight crew members, today announced that the agreement in principle concluded February 16 to renew the collective agreement has been ratified. The new collective agreement is in force for a three-year period. Both parties are satisfied with the agreement in that it meets the objectives of improving working conditions while maintaining the company's ability to face the competitive conditions of the charter flight market.
ALPA (Air Line Pilots Association) is the world’s oldest and largest pilots union, representing 55,000 crewmembers at 51 carriers in Canada and the U.S.
Air Transat, a wholly owned subsidiary of Transat A.T. Inc., is a charter carrier operating from its five main bases in Halifax, Quebec City, Montréal, Toronto et Vancouver. Its fleet of 21 aircraft primarily serves European destinations in summer, and sunshine destinations in the Caribbean, Mexico, the United States and Central and South America in winter. Year-round, Air Transat links Canada’s principal cities. In addition, the airline is designated as a scheduled carrier from Canada to France, the United Kingdom, Germany and Cuba.
