Transat A.T. Inc.: Clarification on corporate structure and labour relations situation at Handlex

Montreal, December 7, 2006

Transat A.T. Inc. (Transat), one of the world’s largest integrated tourism companies and Canada’s holiday travel leader, is a holding company with approximately 20 subsidiaries in 8 countries. It has approximately 6,000 employees.

Air Transat, Canada's leading holiday travel charter carrier, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Transat. No strike is currently anticipated at Air Transat, which has approximately 1,900 employees.

Handlex, another Transat subsidiary, provides airport ground services to several airlines, including Air Transat, at Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver international airports. Services include passenger reception and check-in, baggage- and cargo-handling, aircraft cleaning and ramp services. Handlex has approximately 1,200 employees.

Air Transat has taken all necessary measures to ensure its operations will continue normally in case of a strike that could potentially involve approximately 350 Handlex employees providing baggage- and cargo-handling and other ramp services in Montreal and Toronto.

Transat A.T. Inc. is an integrated international tour operator with more than 60 destination countries and that distributes products in over 50 countries. A holiday travel specialist, Transat operates mainly in Canada and Europe, as well as in the Caribbean, Mexico and the Mediterranean Basin. Montreal-based Transat is also active in air transportation, destination services and distribution. (TSX: TRZ.B, TRZ.A).
